ARE WE LOSING FAT OR FLUID?

Are you losing fat of fluid?

When we start a change of lifestyle to become healthier and reduce body fat, the body goes through a healing/recovery process similar to detoxing.

The body is in a state of panic and stress whilst it’s processing out all the toxins, chemicals, sugars and synthetic ingredients.

When we create stress in the body with poor nutrition and lifestyle it triggers an inflammatory response in order to tell the body it is in crisis. It does this in a desperate attempt to reduce the threats (junk, sugar, chemicals).

Inflammation does increase intracellular fluid, in order to generate a level of protection whilst it’s fighting off the threat of an attack on our systems balance.

So when we start to detox and heal the body (by transitioning from a previous way of eating to our now healthy way of eating), the body becomes able to start a healing phase.

We have no choice but to lose the fluid at this time. What we’re calling ‘water weight’. We WANT to lose this. This is a sign of healing which shows us we are now losing body fat, rebalancing digestion, immune and inflammation triggers and boosting the metabolism.

You can’t bypass this step. At the same time, our metabolism is USING body fat to create energy thus reducing body fat. As the body comes out of the panic phase, you then have less water to lose and the ratio of water to body fat changes and you continuing on burning body fat.

The result being each week you will lose more and more body fat and have less and less weight. So yes we lose water weight as well as body fat at first. And this is because we need to and we want to as part of the process. It will all come off eventually.

Trust the process. Settle into the journey, so you’re ready to park up FOR GOOD when you arrive at the destination.
